List of surf spots in Russia
1. Черное море. Сочи
The Sochi Coast is recommended for more experienced skiers and difficult for beginners.
Why are experienced surfers welcome?
First, there are no surf training schools here.
Secondly, the conditions in the sea and the ocean are completely different: in terms of the period of formation and formation of the wave,
water density and more.
Thirdly, here you can face a harsh stormy sea that only professionals can handle.
If you come to Sochi and want to join the board at all costs, SUP is a good option.
This is a safer type of surfing, but no less enjoyable.
You will feel the elements under your feet for sure, and you will get incredible emotions.
On the Sochi beaches, you can easily find SUP rental shops, as well as use the services of instructors who will teach you how to properly balance on the board while sitting and standing.
For extreme sportsmen, Sochi will be a good opportunity to explore the new wave and try yourself in less comfortable conditions. Go for it!

Lake Ladoga (however, Lake Ladoga tends to freeze)
In Kaliningrad, any spot can be reached by car in less than an hour every day.
There are excellent schools and trainers here who are ready to share their experience not only with adults, but also with children. Surfing spot in Kaliningrad – Baltic Sea.
It sits close to the Atlantic and creates nice swells. The coastline is filled with a large number of breakwaters and embossed beach breaks, which is an important factor for a pleasant learning experience. With regard to the question of the suitability of sea waves (in particular, the Baltic ones) for training beginners, the pioneers of Kaliningrad surfing say: “The chances of surfing here are very, very good; we ourselves studied completely in Kaliningrad, and after that we went to the ocean.
The question, as in any sport, is perseverance and desire. “(Yuri Fedyunkin)

4. Японское море
If you have never been to this part of our country, we advise you to get acquainted with Vladivostok. Primorsky Krai as the fifth element on the map of Russian surf regions. Without it, it would be much more difficult to talk about surfing in Russia as a phenomenon. In terms of the quality of waves, Vladivostok can only surpass Kamchatka, but it is more convenient and faster to get here. By the way, you can surf here all year round. The water temperature varies from -2C to 21C, non-freezing bays can be found even in severe frost. The winter type of surfing is rapidly gaining popularity here, it even got a special name – “arctic surf”. Warm wetsuits, face cream and you can go to sea. Vladivostok is another part of the world, with incredible nature and secluded atmosphere. If you are hungry for adventure and want to embrace our vast country – welcome!

5. Северный-Ледовитый океан
For those who want to visit the end of the world, ride the waves of the Arctic Ocean and test themselves, there is a wonderful “lonely place” – Teriberka. Its severity and power fascinate and attract. There are constantly raging waves (they can reach a height of 5 meters!) There are almost no conditions for housing (if you want to spend the night near the sea, the tent will be your home). This option is only for madmen, for whom the board has already become a part of themselves. But you have the opportunity to fully enjoy nature without the Internet and comfortable conditions, challenge the harsh realities of Siberia, and win! There are very few visiting surfers in this semi-abandoned place, so all the waves will only be yours.
There are no surf schools in Teriberka, as this place is just beginning to gain popularity. Surfing conditions are extreme and the harshness of the ocean attracts mostly risky kids. However, there is a surf school in Yekaterinburg, which teaches children and then travels with them to Teriberka for thrills.

6. Тихий океан
Of course Kamchatka is the favorite of surfers, such waves cannot be compared with any coast in Russia. At the moment, an ecological disaster makes us wait and make sure that the ocean is safe. Poisonous emissions or is it a blooming of red plants – the question remains open. Although this does not stop the guys thirsty for waves and contact with the ocean. So, Kamchatka! A place of power and incredible energy.
Kamchatka is the only place in Russia whose shores are washed by the waters of the Pacific Ocean. It is here that you will find the most stable surfing conditions in our country. One of the most popular and interesting places for skiing among experienced “rowers on a board” is the coast of Khalaktyrsky beach. It stretches for more than 30 km along the coast of the Pacific Ocean, but from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky it is no more than half an hour’s drive from here. On the shore there is a black volcanic sand of fantastic beauty and purity. The water in these places is equally cold at any time of the year, and you will not be able to enter the water without a wetsuit. The waves are quite high here, with strong winds they reach an impressive 15 m height. Beginners should be very careful not to neglect the services of instructors and surf schools.

7. Тихий океан
Imagine an uninhabited island with marine animals, plants and volcanoes as your neighbors. The transport that connects the island with the rest of Russia is helicopter and ferry. All these are the Kuril Islands. To go to the Kuriles, it is important to familiarize yourself with the weather forecast, impending typhoons and favorable conditions for the waves. The waves in the Kuril Islands are many times greater than in Kamchatka. This is justified by the fact that the sea connects with the ocean, and therefore the cyclones collide. The weather can change every 15 minutes from sun to severe blizzard and vice versa. If, it turns out, to catch favorable weather, then the most beautiful view of the island’s nature is revealed, comfortable waves and pleasant sensations arise. Now the island is in a state of “spotting”, surfers come there on expeditions and try different places.
The Kuril Islands are a good way to get away from civilization and be alone with nature.
8. Черное море
Many will now be surprised to see Crimea in the list of surfing spots, remember waves in Crimea, and say that this is some kind of mistake. “The waves in Crimea are only for the calm bathing of millions of tourists” – you might think. But the question is, are such places as Uchkuevka, Lyubimovka, Primorsky known?
Crimea for surfers is a great chance to hone their skills, especially if there is no way to go to the ocean. It will be equally convenient for both beginners and experienced surfers, and the climate allows you to do what you love almost all year round. A huge plus of the peninsula is that there are always waves here. Thanks to the sea, which washes almost all the shores of the Crimea, it is possible to travel to different spots. If it does not pump in one place, then it must pump in another. Surfing schools are just starting to gain momentum. The guys tell local residents and attract visitors to feel the quality of waves in Crimea. Experienced surfers are best served during the fall and winter. During this period, northeasterly winds blow, giving perfect offshore swells.
The most popular place among surfers in Crimea is Uchkuevka. The beach is located next to Sevastopol, where most of the surf centers are located. The coast here deepens gradually, due to which relatively slow, but at the same time rather high waves are formed.
